But first, what is the GDPR ?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or in English General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is a regulation of the European Union adopted on April 27, 2016 and applicable since May 25, 2018.
It aims to strengthen and harmonize the protection of individuals’ personal data within the EU.
Everyone concerned ?
The GDPR concerns all entities, public as well as private, whether they are located inside or outside the EU, as soon as they process personal data of residents of the European Union.
This broad scope aims to guarantee a uniform and effective protection of personal data in a context of globalization and increasing digitalization.

More than a legal obligation, it is a commitment to ethics and digital responsibility.

What is the CNIL?
The National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) is an independent French administrative authority created by the law of January 6, 1978, known as the “Informatics and Liberties Law”.
Its main role is to ensure the protection of personal data and the privacy of citizens in the context of the evolution of information technologies. It also ensures that the recommendations of the GDPR are properly applied !
And sometimes… it sanctions
According to their latest report of June 5, 2024 available on their website:
Following an online inspection, a company was sanctioned for a breach related to cookies. Indeed, refusing cookies was more difficult than accepting them for a user.
Failure to comply with data minimization, lack of cooperation with the CNIL, lack of data security… These reasons led to sanctions!
